I started taking photographs seriously in April 2013. I think i always had an interest but an exhibition by Manchester based photographer Samuel Coulthurst awakened the desire to actually take pictures of my own.
Coulthurst used to shoot people candidly going about their business at the street markets of Salford and Ancoats in the last 20 years of the 19th Century. As I stared transfixed at these images it seemed that somehow these people, all long since dead, were still alive, immortalised by the camera.
