I began my career as a receptionist at a start up magazine back in the 90's called VIBE. This is where I eventually became a fashion editor. My experience at VIBE launched my independent career as a national stylist until I moved back to Los Angeles and moved into film as a costume designer.
Wardrobe lost it's appeal as I continued to evolve in my creativity. I picked up a camera and jumped into content as a photo journalist and started shooting from there. I have been shooting part-time alongside becoming a mother which lends itself to my themes pertaining to motherhood.
Studio is a new foray for me in an attempt to make a living wage as a photographer to express my skill in a controlled environment. It feels like I am starting all over even though I am a set veteran.
I am conscious about ageism and not being the young new talent. Regardless, I feel photography as it grows with me. It allows me to express my core and get closer to the "fine" artist inside me.
