The artist and photographer Augusta, whose real name is Fernanda Vilela, was born in Brasília, the capital of Brazil, in 1979 and grew up there and in Sete Lagoas. As a young woman, she moved to Belo Horizonte, where she studied graphic design at the University of UEMG. From 2012-2013, made possible by a scholarship from the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Culture, she studied at the University of Design in Karlsruhe with Prof. Armin Linke and Prof. Michael Clegg. At the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, she first studied photography and installation with Klaus vom Bruch, Julian Rosefeldt and Dieter Rehm. Since 2019, painting practices have been added to Anke Doberauer's class. On February 8th, 2022 she successfully completed her studies with excellent results.
