Frank Armstrong teaches photography at Clark University in Worcester, MA. He holds a bachelor of journalism degree, University of Texas, Austin. Worked as a roving photojournalist for UTAustin's News Service throughout the 1970's. Awarded a Dobie-Paisano Fellowship 1979 and began concentrating more on his personal work and teaching workshops throughout the southwestern US. Extensive exhibition record spanning over 50 years. Publications, include a monograph, titled ROCK, RIVER, & THORN: The Big Bend of the Rio Grande (2001). In 1986 commissioned by the Texas Historical Foundation; Contemporary Texas: A Photographic Portrait (1985), illustrated poetry book by Leon Stokesbury (1976). Represented in many private and permanent collections including, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; Museum of Modern Art, NY, Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh, Amon Carter Museum, Ft Worth, National Museum of American Art, the Smithsonian, and the Worcester Art Museum, Worcester.
