My name is Gonçalo, I'm 42 year old, living in the south of Portugal.
Started my photographic journey in 2006 with a digital camera. After one year and with a willing to study more about the medium, I came across the work of several master photographers like Ansel Adams, Brett and Edward Weston, Wynn Bullock, Jeanloup Sieff, Ruth Bernhard....and was amazed by the qualities and potential of analogue photography. Soon after I was just shooting with film cameras, building a darkroom and started to develop and print my own negatives.
Since I am passionate about the medium, I love going to photo exhibitions, must of them outside my country just to appreciate others photographers work. I identify myself with the photography of the XX century. I find it more clear, more direct, transparent.
I shoot 90% black and white but I am increasingly shooting more in color.
