Jaap Bijsterbosch (Groningen N.L 1951) puts into discussion the relationship between photography and the photographed reality. To him photography is a way to discover metaphors in reality. He sees things around him which touch him and which are an imagination of his inner life. His work is always made on location. He hates studios. During his photographic career he obtained a number of important commissions e.g. from the Amsterdam Artsfoundation, the city of Utrecht, the province of Northern Holland. His photographic work has been exhibited at many places in Holland as well as abroad. He published his work in many magazines and articles amongst which the article in the photographic lexicon of the Dutch Leiden University is one of the most important (2008). He teaches at the Amsterdam Center of Photography, the Dutch Art Foundation “Buitenkunst”, and the “PhotoAcademy”. He has been a board member of the Dutch photographic professional association GKf.
