About Jackie Stevens

The project called Hidden Evidence which included extensive research, interviews, videos, and a series of photographing close to 1,000 institutions and psychiatric hospitals, built in the early 1900's. Through this historic revelation of learning of the mistreatment and lack of support and care had stemmed a deep desire to reach out and help, using my skills and talents. As I continued on; I became a DSP (Direct Support Professional-recently completed a five course training, and multiple training classes of the agency I support today) teaching art to those who have developmental disabilities since 2015. I am honored and proud to be working and supporting these individuals as we work together I find inspiration and hope in their future as we smile together and learn from one another.

Jackie Stevens is an award winning photographer featured in many galleries throughout the United States. She continues to support people with developmental disabilities; as she finds inspiration, joy, and love is overflowing in their hearts.
