About Jan Riley

I have my BFA and MFA in printmaking with a specialty in lithography from the University of Cincinnati. I was a Curator at the Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati from 1986 - 1993. I moved to Virginia Beach to be the Chief Curator at the Virginia Beach Center for the Arts from 1993 - 1996. In 1996 I moved to New York City to work for the Robert Miller Gallery as their Registrar and Publications Editor. In 2008 I became the Registrar for the Permanent Collection at the American Museum of Natural History. I have most recently left the Museum to go back to the art world as the Registrar at Paula Cooper Gallery. I also write about contemporary sculpture, most recently for the Neuberger Museum of Art, authoring a brochure for an exhibition on Donna Dennis, and for Sculpture Magazine from 2004 - present.
