Janet Matthews is a fine art photographer who works with both digital and historic processes. She earned degrees in Studio Art and Art Education from the University of Maryland. She was reintroduced to photography after becoming a high school art teacher in midlife. Her first teaching assignment included Photo 1. To brush up on her photography skills, she took continuing education courses at Maryland Institute, College of Art where she discovered an affinity for incorporating photography into her art practice. She has attended many photography workshops with instructors including Christopher James, Craig Stevens, Elizabeth Opalenik and others. Janet is a member of the cooperative photography gallery, Multiple Exposures Gallery, located in Alexandria, Virginia. Janet and her husband live in Cheverly, Maryland.
