Biography
Jean-Paul Bourdier was born in France. He studied at the Beaux Art School in Versailles. After receiving his diploma, a post-graduate Fellowship, and a Masters , he spent 3 years in Africa where he taught architecture, and further honed his photography.
His award-winning photographic images have been exhibited in the U.S. and France, and are part of the permanent collection of several museums. His previous photography publications include the books Bodyscapes (2007) and Leap Into the Blue (2011).
He has also published books on traditional (vernacular) architecture, and has been the Production Designer and Art Director for feature films, including eight films directed by Trinh Minh-ha.
He taught in many Universities and is a longstanding Professor at the Univ of Calif at Berkeley, where he currently teaches architecture and photography - his twin passions.
