I am a professor of sociology and literature with a long-standing interest in surrealism and myth. I began experimenting with documentary film twenty years ago as a way of expanding the reach of academic work but I didn't take this very far. In the last few years I have shifted focus and begun to work more directly with photography and creative fiction.. I have been making puppets and learning how to photograph them using projection, mirrors and shadows. I'm still new to this, still learning my way around a camera, and have just started working in photoshop. The work submitted here represents my first attempt to create an illustrated novella.
