About Jill Waterman

Jill Waterman is a photographer, editor, writer, and educator based in New York since 1985. A night photography specialist, she pursues long-term personal projects, including her ongoing documentation about New Year’s Eve.

These photographs have been exhibited internationally and extensively featured in the press. Highlights include a 1997 Deutsche Welle TV segment on her coverage in Berlin, Germany; a 2003 Today Show interview with Katie Couric; and a 2015 documentary for the web TV show Culture Connect.

Waterman has lectured widely, taught workshops, and reviewed portfolios in the US and abroad. Her first book, Night and Low Light Photography, was released by Amphoto books in August 2008. Currently, she works as a writer for the B&H Explora blog.

Her educational background includes a Master of Arts in Photography (New York University, 1988), a License degree in Studio Art (University of Paris I, Pantheon, Sorbonne, 1985) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Printmaking.
