João Filgueiras photographer
Born in Rio de Janeiro, lives and work in Lisbon since 1990.
He exchanged his career as a Lawyer for that of a Photographer at a very early age.
Soon, he went to work at Bloch Editores/Manchete, collaborating with 7 publications of the same.
After 1 year at the publishing house, he leaves for Milano and becomes an intern at the two largest Italian publishing houses (Mondadori and Rizzoli).
Returns to Rio de Janeiro, sets up his own studio with 3 more partners and starts working independently for various publications, advertising agencies and Adidas catalogs for Latin America.
Participates in several exhibitions, publishes 10 pages in Playboy magazine with the article: A naked panther in the streets of Rio, where the model appears naked in several tourist spots in Rio de Janeiro.
Collaborates with TV Globo as a consultant for several telenovelas.
Leaves for Lisbon and starts working with several advertising agencies.
Creates images and campaigns for brands such as: McDonalds, British Petrolium (BP), Donuts, Swatch, Lay’s, Sogrape, Pepsi Cola, VW, Panrico, Super Bock, Scotex, Renova, Galp, among others.
He currently creates personal images for the Fine Art market and collaborates with the auctioneer Christie’s for which he photographs works in Portugal that will be sent to auctions in London.
