He is a Lawyer by profession, in Macau and Lisbon. In 2017 began to exhibit his photography work, with individual exhibitions at “Creative Macau - Center for Creative Industries”, Macau (2017), at “Museu Colecção Berardo”, Belem Cultural Center, Lisbon, Portugal (2018), at “Macau Contemporary Art Center Navy Yard nº 1”, Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macau S.A.R (2019) and at Albergue Macau (2019)
He recently started publishing "stories in black and white" on Zine.Photo (www.zine.photo).
He has participated in several group exhibitions and published three photobooks.
João Miguel Barros is also a freelance curator in contemporary photography, having organized several photography exhibitions in Portugal and is developing several other projects in this area.
