Born and raised in the beautiful Bay Area, my approach to art making has been very tied to where I am during that moment in my life, as a balancing act. As a student, my academic focus was abstract and conceptual. My art, conversely, was deeply socially engaged and dealt primarily with the changing and upsetting world around me. When I finished college and began working in community mental health as the manager of a suicide hotline, my work flipped. It became abstract and conceptual. I have a BA in Communication from UC San Diego and live in the Bay Area- less than 5 miles from where I was born.
