About Jose Francisco Arias Fernandez

Grandson and nephew of painters, he learned to use color, light, and composition from a very early age.
His official debut in photography was “Myanmar Words”, together with the writer A. Sirvent in 2011. However, he burst onto the scene with “Dead Souls” when it was chosen by Photoespaña Discoveries 2012 out of thousands of other works. Since then, he has won two other international prizes and participated three traveling exhibitions.Additionally, he is the only photographer participating in the research, exhibition, and book project about the mining regions of Asturias titled “Learning about the Mining Region "Mutant Machines” work that has been award with the most importan prize about Heritage Preservation in Europe 2015 EU Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards.
