Joseph Yap is an artist and a product designer with a background in materials engineering. He loves experimenting with and refining new materials and techniques, including art mediums and photographic processes. He believes that understanding the building blocks of things expands the possibilities of what one can create. He hopes that that understanding will democratize the ability to build for a better future.
His first solo exhibition, "The Animation of the Visible Spectrum," questioned the notion of photography with regards to the capturing, recording, and presenting of images. He helped develop photoma.info, a panorama to experiments in Philippine photography that challenges common notions of the very nature of the medium.
