About Kaori Hijikata

Kaori Hijikata is a street photographer based in Tokyo, Japan. She began capturing the streets of her native city in 2021. She loves the city's buzz and enjoys wandering the streets with her camera, intuitively taking shots of ordinary people in mundane settings. Many of her images evoke a sense of mystery in the subjects within urban environments. As a candid street photographer, she aims to capture special moments in everyday life. Recently, her interest has extended to other areas of Japan, most notably Nagano Prefecture. She has two ongoing projects: one explores Tokyo at night, capturing faces and silhouettes that tell stories in the dark, reflecting the city's unique atmosphere. The other project documents a resort around an artificial lake in Nagano, focusing on the passage of time.
