Kayla Story was born on a military base on the west coast of the US and has since lived all over the world. Her work is based in the emotional understanding of human experience focusing on complexity within relationships; Our relationships to people, place, and self are often her subjects. She received a BFA in Photography from Columbia College Chicago in 2011 where she was a presidential scholar and purchase award recipient. Currently a studio assistant in Madison, WI she is also enrolled at UW Madison in their MFA Studio Art program with a concentration in photography which she will finish in 2020. Recently she has been awarded two scholarships to summer programs on the photographic portrait at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Colorado for 2015 and 2017. Her work has been reviewed and exhibited by Aint-Bad, Wally Douma Student Art Gallery, Indestructible Energy Zine (London, UK), and Slideluck (Austin, TX).
