My name is Kimari Hazward and I am a self-taught photographer based in Brooklyn, NY. I am interested in the ways that we use memories of both objects and humans to process significant lived experiences. I primarily work within homes and familial spaces of friends and family, allowing the subject to naturally exist in their own space, and position the objects around them as they see fit. Giving the subject agency inside the space allows for the space to be regarded as a central figure of where the subject stands. This dynamic between the positioning of the subject and their space informs the viewer on how the subject wants to be seen, and how they see themselves.
