Ksenia Yurkova is a Russian interdisciplinary visual artist currently based in Helsinki. She works primarily with photography, video and artist’s books. She uses an approach, which combines sociological, scholarly, poetic, political and documentary elements, working with issues of communication and language: the varieties of its substance, the possibility of conversion, stereotyping, and mythological aspect, as well as with issues of memory, attitude, and reliance. The core task of her artistic approach is to constitute an effort to help one distance himself from the unintelligible structure of reality and replace it with a whole new efficient reflective framework. In 2008 Yurkova graduated with honors St. Petersburg State University, Faculty of Journalism, Department of Visual Journalism. Her additional education is Fotodepartament (St.Petersburg) in 2013-2015. Nowadays she is studying towards Masters degree at the Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki.
