About Lauren Jones

Lauren Jones is a photographer that works in color, black and white, and alternative processes such as, cyanotype. Jones holds a Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts from Valdosta State University. Lauren's photographs show the variety and admirable qualities of African American women. Her focus on natural beauty and diversity of body type illustrates her exploration of the female body while discussing social beauty standards, under-representation in media, and societal understanding of African American women. Jones has received many accolades for her work, such as Best in Show at Soho Photo Gallery in Soho, NY, at the Juried Student Competition at Valdosta State University, at the Empowering Women Exhibition, at the Red Door Records & Cinema 18th Annual Southwest Georgia Reginal Fine Art Exhibition & Sale, and at the AAAC’s Carnegie Library 14th Annual National Alternative Processes Competition. Jones also has publications in Photographer's Forum , Valdosta Daily Times and The Odradek Literary Magazine.
