About Lola Wallace

My first love of photography started as a teenager and the works of Margaret Bourke - White and Dorothea Lange along with the incredible masters of black and white photography of the past. I started shooting street portraits and then capturing images of people doing the things they loved like taking photos behind the scenes at drag show or boxers training at the boxing club. When I moved to Sri Lanka I began exploring NGO's and raising money for non profits while taking images of the work they do. Returning to the US, I knew I wanted to focus on portraits and began with self portraits as a way of putting myself in the subjects seat to better understand and relate to what it feels like to be photographed.
