Hi, my name is Marlen but I create under the artist name Lou Vicious. I have worked as a freelance photographer for more than 10 years. I enjoy expressing myself through creative work and projects – namely photography, painted//sculptured artworks and music.
Ever since I started at age 15, photography has always been more than pure observation. Photography for me is a tool for self expression and creation. Self portraits helped me to express what I wasn’t able to put into words allowing me to create new realities and atmospheres. I initially told myself that taking self portraits was something that I should not do. I thought that I would be perceived as vain and self-centered. These thoughts quashed my inspiration to create and shut off a channel that was once very invigorating to me. I have chosen to put aside those “mind made” boundaries and restrictions and live a more creative life.
‘best vicious, Lou’ – I used this tag for street art and online presence and over the years I have continued to use this name for my creative projects. The common ground of these projects is that they are personal and will oftentimes go beyond what is generally defined as photography.
