About Lou Whelan

Lou Whelan - Bio: An emergent artist originally from Ireland, I migrated to Australia in 1991, currently residing in Warburton, near Melbourne, in the spectacular Yarra Valley - a place whose people and landscape has informed and inspired much of my work to date. In 2017, intrigued by the potential of the therapeutic and transformational qualities of this medium in navigating a co-existence with disability, I ended my career as a health professional to pursue photography full-time. Largely, self taught, I work primarily in digital format specialising in fine-art, documentary and editorial work. I have exhibited locally in Australia in solo and group shows and currently have work on display at ICP New York and upcoming exhibits at Blank Wall Gallery, Athens and Matca Gallery, Hanoi.
