About Mara Scampoli

I am an Italian photographer based in Padua where I work mainly dealing with social and documentary photography. I approached photography as a means of personal expression and research in the field of human relations. I studied the basics of documentary photography and visual anthropology at IRFOSS in Padua, then continuing my training course by studying with several documentary photographers and photojournalists. In 2020 I completed the Master in Documentary Photography with Davide Monteleone. I have been involved in several projects in the field of social investigation, with particular attention to the migratory phenomenon in Italy and in Europe. I have documented informal settlements along the migration routes in Europe, making reportages in Calais, Athens and Padua. I collaborate with international and local associations for the realization of social survey projects and the empowerment of local communities through the use of the photographic tool. I am also interested in the documentation of the urban landscape and the transformations of the territory in the relationship between man and the environment.
