About Maria Quigley

Photography has become my most vital form of creative expression, a way to engage with the world through observation, intuition, and storytelling. I focus on street and portrait photography, capturing quiet gestures, fleeting expressions, and moments of human presence in everyday settings.
This practice is built on a long career in visual communication. For over 40 years, I worked as a graphic designer in the television industry, developing a deep understanding of composition, colour, and narrative imagery. These instincts now shape my photographic eye, guiding me to frame not only what is seen, but also what is felt.
Visual storytelling has always been at the heart of my work, whether on screen, on paper, or in public spaces.
Through the lens, I continue to explore themes of identity, place, and presence, finding meaning in the fleeting moments and ordinary lives that often go unnoticed.
