About Matias Recart

I have covered the US invasion of Panama, the US Military occupation of Haiti, the war and Sandinista movement in Nicaragua, the Zapatista Crisis in Chiapas, Mexico, the war in El Salvador, the hostage situation at the Japanese Embassy in Peru, the plebiscite in Chile, the war on drug trafficking in Colombia, as well as coverage on the different presidential elections in almost all the countries in the region. I have also done work in Cuba, Venezuela, Portugal, Guatemala and Honduras.
I was chosen to participate in the second World Press Photo Master Class in Amsterdam, Holland, being the first photographer from a Latin American country to participate in said master class.
I was invited to participate at Visa Pour L´Image, Perpignian, France.
I was chosen to participate in a Chilean photographer’s catalogue in Landskrona, Sweden.
I was invited to give a lecture on my work at the International Photography Festival in Valparaiso (FIFIV).
I have exhibited my work at “Foto Septiembre Internacional” invited by El Centro de la Imagen in Mexico; at the Bienal de Sao Paulo in Brazil, as well as in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Venezuela and Chile.
My work has been published in various newspapers and magazines like Time, Newsweek, Photo (France), The New York Times, El País (Spain), The Washington Post, and others.
