Mia Collis is a photographer living and working in Africa. With a major in Anthropology, she is currently based out of Nairobi.
Her ongoing project is "Sunday Best at Weekend Studio", documenting people wearing their finest on Sundays in Kenya's biggest slum, Kibera.
This year she had her first book published "The Unsung Heroes" in collaboration with the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. The book documents extraordinary human acts of bravery towards an elephant.
She has won various awards this year, the latest being Event Photographer of the Year in the 2018 International Photography Awards. Her work will be exhibited in the IPA Best of Show - Group Exhibition in New York this October and later at the Roots Studio again in New York - as a winner of Feature Shoots Print Swap. Mia has been published in The Sunday Times (London), New York Times Lens Blog, CNN, PBS amongst others.
