Mehdi Mon'em was born in 1961 in the city of Rasht in northern Iran. In 1982, I began working as a photojournalist with IRNA news agency. During my five years at IRNA, I photographed several operations of the Iran-Iraq war. After the war, I spent years photographing the effects of the war on the people of Iran. I published the book "The Miracle of Hope" in 1992, which is dedicated to the lives of war-disabled individuals. Books 1 and 2 on civilian victims of the Iran-Iraq war were also published by me with the support of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
