Mony Nation is a published photographer, writer, and designer who seeks to center Black lives, stories, and communities in her work as well as other ethnicities that are underrepresented.
Having traveled around the world to more than 29 countries, she draws a great deal of inspiration from the new environments in which she finds herself. She has contributed to an article for Travel & Leisure and worked as a co-editor for The MelaninLens Magazine. Mony has also written travel stories for MITH magazine.
Mony is no stranger to the world of fashion. She has worked as a guest director, videographer, and photographer for the Berlin-based fashion vlog, Suit Yourself with Paige. In 2020, Mony released a colorful graphic fashion collaboration with eponymous label Sherie L. Nevett, a fashion house based in Los Angeles.
Mony’s photographic works have been exhibited across the United States at venues that include the Los Angeles Center for Digital Art (LACDA), Venn.Bushwick, and the Long Island Photo Gallery. New pieces will be featured in shows with the Montgomery Photo Festival and Troy University’s Huo Bao Zhu Gallery, in Alabama.
In 2022, Mony was invited by Alchemical Studios x Black Women’s March for International Women’s Day to screen her latest short video, Discovering Deloach: Filling the Genealogy Gaps. She was also recently named LensCulture Critics Choice 2022, Critics' Pick.
Most recently, Mony, completed her MFA in graphic design at the Vermont College of Fine Arts. She will release her first photo book for purchase, complete a travel book, and create a new visual publication by the end of 2022.
