About Nancy Scherl
Nancy Scherl is a fine art and social documentary portrait photographer based in New York City. She describes her work as cinematic. and often staged. Nancy lures viewers into worlds designed to intrigue viewers into considering anew their formerly trusted points of view and aspects of the human condition.
Nancy completed an MFA in Photography, Video and Related Media at New York City’s School of Visual Arts, following her undergraduate studies in documentary and fine art photography at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is a member of the American Society of Media Photographers where she served as a board member (2016-2019) and is a board member and treasurer of the Katonah Museum Artists Association in Katonah, New York.
Among other awards, Nancy’s work earned a place in Photolucida 2018 Critical Mass Top 200; received two 2016 first place awards in the Moscow International Foto Awards and a bronze award in the 2016 Tokyo International Foto Awards.
