Barrionuevo was born in Nogales, Mexico. Studied communications at the University Autonomous of Guadalajara and later move to Europe where she
studied and began to explore photography.
Barrionuevo work explores subcultural movements and historical traditions in pursuit of inspiring critical, cross-cultural dialog. She has covered Mexican presidential elections, interned with The Los Angeles Times and Annie Leibovitz. Her work has been honored by the Museum of Tolerance, University of Sonora, University of Judaism, the Lucie Foundation and Los Angeles General Consulate of Mexico among many others.
She graduated from Art Center College of Design.
