I began photography in my early recovery from addiction. While I was staying at my mother's house the urge to leave the house was met with the sheer terror and anxiety of dealing with a world unmedicated. When I picked up a camera, my hyperawareness, my over sensitivity could be honed and focused into one thing: taking a photograph. I shoot film for the process that manual photography forces me through. It has brought me more stillness and fulfillment than any other single thing I have done with my time, including the poetry I still write daily.
