The Dominican photographer Parmelia Matos is best known for her conceptual, symbolic, surreal and provocative images.
Parmelia Matos images subverts XXI century female with an original proposal: in a century where the woman seeks release of home to find
herself and become a professional not tied to the everyday. She dares to break free from new conventions through the same sublimation of motherhood with a symbolic work that arises from the known to the unknown. She shows the unseen from images that expand and reveal from the natural world to the mysterious and magical. Her art is full of new
and enriching experiences. Her works have been exhibited in Argentina, USA, Mexico, France, Italy and recently Three of her pieces were exhibited At the Documentary and Fine Art Bienal In Berlin, Germany.
When asked what photography means to her Parmelia said: “Photography is a medium that allows you to permeate your personal perceptions about the environment and the society during the time of your existence with the intent to leave a footprint of our own humanity.”
