In 1990 I finished the Art Academy of Tilburg (The Netherlands) in the disciplines painting, drawing and photography. In the 1990s I worked and exhibited predominantly as a painting artist. Since the end of the millennium I gradually became more active as a graphic designer. Photography has always remained a passion, but in recent years has developed into my main artistic medium.
Inspired by rhythm and colors as seen in (mainly) Dutch city life, I started making my own compositions, using elements of architecture. The fascination gradually has grown into a personal mission to create fields full of graphic lines, patterns and full colors. Essentially my work is abstract, but through photography and the subject of architecture it gets an extra layer of reality. A great side effect is that it makes people recognize this way of looking in their own life. An ordinary flat building can be perceived as a wonderful abstract tapestry on which simple shadows on the surface are fascinating graphic elements.
