Paul Anthony Melhado is a Jamaican born artist of Portuguese decent. He has been a Queens resident for over 40 years and hold degrees in psychology, education and art. Mr. Melhado's photographic technique involves the use of late 19th century equipment, such as the view camera and early 20th century processes that utilizes film with traditional darkroom printing. " I work with a variety of large format cameras from the 4x5 to a 12x20 banquet camera from the late 1800s. This equipment facilitates the production of carefully planned and composed images, that are printed with deliberate intent. I am a romantic at heart, so every image I make is an attempt to pull out of a scene the essence of its beauty".
