Born in Devon in the UK, Paula Broom moved to Sydney in 1998 after completing her Bachelor of Fine Art at London’s Middlesex University. She is a visual artist who makes and creates photographs and digital art using her mobile phone, which thanks to apps and social media, becomes a sketchbook, studio and gallery in her hands. Since she graduated in 2014 with a Master of Environmental Management from the University of New South Wales, her work increasingly reflects her environmental concerns as witnessed in her four solo exhibitions in Sydney since graduating. She is also a keen street photographer. Paula’s work has also been chosen, internationally, for various publications and blogs as well as several exhibitions. She recently received 2nd place in the Photo Essay category of the 2015 Mobile Photography Awards for her series The Old Loftus Tramshed, and her last solo exhibition was awarded Genre Excellence for Visual Arts. She lives in Sydney with her husband and two teenage children.
She is co-manager of @igerssydney on Instagram, where you can follow her as @paulabroom (photography), or as @theoriginalmiss on Instagram (digital art), Flickr, Tumblr and Twitter. Her blog can be found at https://environmeanttobe.wordpress.com
