About Paula Giordano

My work is structured around 2 main languages: photography and more recently, video art. I am interested in the study of existential dilemmas and I find in self-representation and photoperformance a possibility to create dialogues, provoke reflections and investigate with the camera how light and movement generate images full of ambiguity, symbologies and contradictions. Activating my creative processes is closely related to psychic issues. Subjected to provocations and questions, i let myself be contaminated by sensations, feelings and emotions that serve as a starting point for me to explore the images from my conscious and unconscious mind, giving rise to a universe of symbols, sensations and expressions, feeling free to warp reality and reach dreamlike fields. I have experimented with the use of different materials and manual techniques, such as collage, painting and sewing, to intervene on printed photographs, as well as some photographic processes, with the aim of bringing more subjectivity and layers of readings to the work. I am also developing 2 long-term research projects in the field of documentary photography that investigate the relationship between man and the Divine. I have already held 2 individual exhibitions, through contemplation in state public contest. I participate in national and international group exhibitions. I have works in the following public collections: Museum im Spital Grunberg - Germany, National Museum of Fine Arts of Rio de Janeiro/RJ,
