About Petra Niedecken

Hello dear photography lovers!

Well, about me, ... I'm a deeply passionate photograph autodidact.
My friends call me "Camaravirtuoso", because I adjusting my camera so long until I think the picture is perfect. Perfect in the sense of capturing the situation how I feel it in that moment.

How did it start?
I liked to photograph all my life.
However, my real passion only got awake in 2014.
I will never forget this day, this moment... I was so overwhelmed that I even started to cry...

During spring 2014 I have been on vacation in North Italy at the wonderful Garda Lake. On the 4th June 2014 in the afternoon I arrived at the Lago Di Tenno.
... walked down the little path to the shore of the lake... I remarked something happening inside of me. Through the leafs of the trees I saw this unbelievable beautiful little lake, the green mountains around were mirroring in the lake, the clouds and the sky equally with a touch of sunset light... it was so amazing and gorgeous that I thought this is the most beautiful place on earth I have ever been! The tears were running over my face, I could not stop it... .
Walking down the path further I saw the whole lake in a beauty which really flashed me. A family was passing by and a child said to the mother, Mum, why is this woman crying?
This deep emotional reaction was very untypical for my - I'm a quite ground based person. Such a moment I never had before in my life.

I wanted to photograph the scenery how I felt it in this particular moment, but with my mobile phone camera it was simply not possible to bring this outstanding emotion into the photo.

This was the moment when I decided "I want to photograph!".

To describe how I work I have written the following:

THE ART OF PHOTOGRAPHY IS FOR ME, THAT WE SEE A PICTURE
WITH THE NAKED EYE AND THEN
CAN CAPTURE IT IN WAY
WHICH THE NAKED EYE DOES NOT SEE.

WHEN I PHOTOGRAPH, I SEE WITH MY HEART.

Truly yours,
Petra
