Né en 1985, Pierre Ollier a grandi dans la campagne corrézienne, en haut d’une colline, entre un lac et une forêt. Passionné de rock’n’roll, de cinéma de genre et de littérature beat, son intérêt pour la photographie arrive tard : il a déjà 20 ans quand il emprunte le vieux Praktica de son père, à la veille de son emménagement à Paris. Là-bas, il essaie de devenir rock-critic, travaille même un peu pour Rolling Stone, mais finit par comprendre qu’il préfère photographier qu’écrire. Passé en école de photo où grandira sa passion pour le médium argentique (il a depuis installé un labo dans son appartement), c’est aujourd’hui au 6x7 ou à la chambre qu’il réalise ses projets personnels. Voyageur solitaire amoureux d’espaces vides et reculés, sa démarche vise surtout à interroger les notions de territoire et d’identité.
Born in 1985, Pierre Ollier grew up up a hill, between a lake and a forest, in the middle of France. Passionate about rock’n’roll, genre cinema and beat literature, his interest in photography came late. He already was in his early twenties when he borrowed his dad’s old Praktica, the day before he moved to Paris. There, he tried to become a rock-critic (he worked a bit for Rolling Stone) but found much more interest in taking pictures than writing - so he went back to school to get a degree in photography. Today, he works as a full-time photographer for a retail company, while keeping on producing his personal series, using a whole range of analog tools, from the compact 35mm to the 4x5 view camera.
