Being on the road and spending a substantial time of undirected walking, allows me to mentally slow down, and to connect to the environment with a new perspective. I find stillness in the unknown. I think it is the absence of familiarity that allows me to exist in the present. Looking through a viewfinder lets me focus on the now, turning off the noise of daily routine and really see the things around me.
“Parallels” was created during a road trip to Italy in 2018. In pursuit of silence and reconnection with my inner self, I drove over 1400 miles along the Italian coast line. I wanted to create a series of photographs without imposed rules or boundaries. This series is a reflection of the mere presence and the sense of solitude.
