Shadows are born from light.
As a little girl I enjoyed forming shadow pictures with my hands
Against a wall the light made shadows come to life in forms I recognized.
Today I am still fascinated with shadows.
I wonder if they ever want to exist without the light.
Without the forms they mimic.
In photography one can adjust shadows.
Making them look realistic or stretched into humongous beings
Misplacing them into other areas of the frame.
Even removing them totally.
In this series I would like the viewer to contemplate shadows in different ways.
Maybe they are slowed up as if they are trying to leave the space they were meant to be.
Maybe they do not want to be dark anymore.
So I have given the shadows new colors.
Underneath though they are still shadows.
They are still bound by light.
