Memories of Sorrow
In photographing my eleven year old son we are able to explore this idea of memories between the two of us. Exploring the emotions of past and current family struggles. The work has transformed into a way for me to find a balance in the midst of a downward spiral of loss and hope.
Capturing a dark emotional world in which we are left to confront our own realties and dreams. We create this world together using crude materials that are found, recycled and bought. These conceptual portraits capture fleeting dreams and fears, bringing them to life in a vivid contrast of light and dark. Together we are creating something new for the both of us out of these emotions. This allows us to create new positive memories to be shared.
