Beauty Will Save The World
In this project, I wanted to open a dialog with the new generation by showing published war photographs and connecting the war in Syria with our daily life in Europe. I wanted to link these two worlds and make people 'travel' to the war zones to raise the question: how does it make them feel?
I think we, as human beings, still accept the idea of war and therefore it is still our present, not our past. We have created games, movies, toys that celebrate war and don’t show how ugly it is. No one dies beautifully, thus only life can be beautiful.
I have chosen flowers as a symbol of life, peace and love but also sorrow. I took portraits in Arles with local people in the small French city and I used the handmade collage technique to demonstrate the fragility of one individual life. Each life matters.
