Each of the above subjects can generate different questions. Would one ask a photographer what paintbrush works well using watercolors or an artist the type of camera they chose and why. Of course they are valid questions because one can paint and photograph. I do and many other people enjoy painting and taking photographs.
The following body of work incorporates the integration of photography and art in a most interesting and engaging fashion. Learning to take my photographic experience into the realm of art by using digital paintbrushes, my fingers and the Apple Pencil was a very novel idea for me at first. I am self taught in the sense that one has to approach learning skills and techniques from within ones intuitive sense of what works. As an art teacher, my exposure to teaching others enriches my own creative techniques. Seeing the ways of expression others choose whether they be novice or well known is something I cherish and feel strongly helps me approach my work with an independent spirit and style.
The title Photography and Art became special words to me because they exist not only as separate entities to learn about society and history and to continue to learn the how to of each subject, but also to bring them together with my hands and my heart.
