Northern Wales is a visually arresting place, with ancient hill forts, medieval castles and towns, and modern, industrial-scale rock quarries. Wide vistas lend themselves to a multi-image approach, and I use triptychs in this series to create works that are panoramic in scope, but not in execution, being made from 3 distinct images. Triptychs were traditionally used for religious imagery, but here are used in service of landscapes that have their own secular wonder. The end result is an artwork that combines a documentary eye with lyrical abstraction: each composition is derived from a particular place using three particular moments.
