Exploring the identity of movement in color within each frame of this series of still photographs. Behind the eye of the camera I watched this girl try to overcome the relentless seagull’s quest to consume all the French fries she had recently bought to her beach blanket. It was a movie unfolding as the gulls swooped downward and her cries of anger in dialogue were voiced. Suffice it to say the gulls had a tasty lunch!
Color in movement forms an identity. This identity builds forms that fluctuate creating a sense that movement is occurring. So when we photograph or draw frames of an event and string them together we would have the identity of the movement of the event. Thus a flowing filmstrip.
Instead I chose to isolate each frame’s movement separately, so that I could explore color movement occurring independently, almost as if you opened and closed your eyes each time seeing movement within a photograph in a different light.
