Black as...
Project info

Black, the color of death, mourning and pain; present in the folkloristic-religious tradition in a Euro-Mediterranean environment since the dawn of time.
Predominant and evocative color in the key rite of Holy Week in the city of Canosa di Puglia called "procession of the Desolate".
Tradition, that of the Desolate, extremely moving and participatory, where everything revolves around the strong bond between a "mother" (Mary) and her own "son" (Jesus).
A procession that takes place during Good Friday in the small streets of the historic center of the city, where over 300 women entirely dressed in black sing a song of moving and heartbreaking pain called "Hymn to the Desolate".
