I'm shocked how much we humans, are able to ignore each other.
How can it be possible, if we live next door to each other, that days, weeks or months humans are lying death in their flats, without anyone knowing?
How minimal are we affected by the helplessness and distress of other people? How fast do we judge, without really knowing? Do we want to know? Why do we have a kind of "habituation effect " by the sight of homeless, beggars and needy people? A kind of "getting blind" ? Why do we avoid them? Because of our arrogance? Because they scare us? If something goes wrong in our lives, will we end up there too? Accompanying the damned?
Do those people remind us of our own mortality and the the filigree of life, prosperity and possession? Do we want to be reminded?
